Healthcare Continuation (COBRA)

When you lose eligibility for benefits at Natus you may be eligible to continue your benefits as permitted under the COBRA law.

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) allows you to temporarily continue coverage in Natus-sponsored health plans if you, or one of your covered dependents, lose coverage.

Your Natus medical, dental, vision, EAP and HealthCare FSA benefits terminate on the last day of the month in which you are no longer eligible. COBRA coverage begins the first day of the following month if elected timely.

A COBRA notification and enrollment package will be mailed to the address Natus has on file by Natus’ COBRA administrator - PlanSource. You have a 60-day period to elect COBRA; you pay your premiums to PlanSource directly.

Length of COBRA Coverage

COBRA coverage can last for either 18 or 36 months, depending on the qualifying event.

  • If the qualifying event is a reduction in your work hours or the end of your employment, your COBRA coverage will last up to 18 months.

  • If the qualifying event is death, enrollment in Medicare Part A or B, divorce, legal separation or a dependent child aging off your group health plan, your COBRA coverage will last up to 36 months.

* Domestic partners are defined as same-sex and opposite-sex couples who have completed the Affidavit of Domestic Partnership. You are required to provide proof of relationship status for both marriages and domestic partnerships.
